SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing proactive outreach programs, both on- and off-campus; attracting a diverse group of males; and targeting at risk students (not exclusively) attending Dayton Public Schools.
- Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written; demonstrate solid decision-making and problem-solving skills; as well as, be able to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must also possess extensive knowledge about African American history, Issues impacting to Males of Color, Educating males of color, Hip Hop Pedagogy, Science, Math, and Literature.
- Develops documents and presentations specifically geared toward Males of Color outreach efforts (presentations, staff workshops, parent workshops/receptions and markets the availability of these presentations throughout their building?s local urban centers.
- Provides classroom instruction to assist students with optimal performance, transitioning to college including, adjustment and academic success.
- Creates and documents a comprehensive list of outreach activities.
- Actively promotes the Office for Males of Color highlighting and promoting programming, activities and progress on Facebook and other social media sites designated by supervision.
- Must be able to facilitate presentations and discussions effectively with diverse groups of people including students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators and DPS Leadership.
- Works collaboratively with the Office of marketing/communication on message development for outreach, including print publications, emails, social media, and various website(s).
- Facilitators should display the behaviors we want to see in our young men and be able to effectively navigate situations requiring duality.
- Facilitators must exude an attitude of professionalism and scholarly behaviors.
- Facilitators should be supportive of student?s extra-curricular activities.
- Creates and/or enhances effective systems for managing and maintaining the program.
- Facilitate team/group Interactions and activities, lead group discussions, positive mental attitude and promote excitement about ?Males of Color? events.
- Facilitator?s should provide unsurpassed student service and make interactions with students and parents as positive as possible.
- Demonstrates mature, courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and DPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Plan monthly events for students and staff.
- Enthusiastically promotes the MOC?s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute discretion and confidentiality of work-related issues, records and DPS information.
- Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as needed basis.
- At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

Verifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
- Current and valid State of Ohio teaching licensure appropriate for the specific teaching position
- Must pass Federal and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation background check in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-83-06
- Bachelor?s or Master?s Degree or Equivalent Experience
- Experience working with diverse groups urban youth
- Effectively working with a diverse and multicultural student? body
- Working knowledge of multicultural programs and systems
- Awareness of the issues related to students of color and college or career readiness
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
- Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
- Work is performed in a classroom setting
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
- Potential exposure to disruptive parents and students
- Some assignments are subject to completion within strict timelines
- Periodic travel for meetings, professional development activities, and work assignments
