Position Summary:

Coordinate the work of pastoral leaders at the archdiocesan level to support the implementation and delivery of Pastoral Migratoria ?(PM) Chicago?s service, accompaniment and justice actions in local parish communities, responding to the needs of the immigrant community. Foster and support collaborative grassroots work and program opportunities with PM partners and stakeholders. Support the development and revitalization of this ministry at archdiocesan and parish levels.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate the work of PM leaders at the archdiocesan level to support the implementation and delivery of PM Chicago?s service, accompaniment and justice actions in local parish communities, according to methodologies of PM and the Aparecida* document, responding to the needs of the immigrant community and working in collaboration with Pastoral Companions (GAP), Chicago?s Formation-Collaboration Coordinator, and other internal and external partners.

2. Support the work of PM leaders and GAP to organize/calendarize PM activities at the archdiocesan level (and parish level as needed) and engage parish teams.

3. Engage in strengthening parish leadership teams, initiating new PM leadership teams, and expanding/introducing PM to new areas.

4. Participate in the design and implementation of education and advocacy strategies, activities, and resources in support of immigration reform policies and the needs of the local immigrant community.

5. Foster and support the participation and collaboration of PM leaders in archdiocesan initiatives (e.g. Equipo Timon Arquidiocesano, Foro Bimensual, Posada, Lent Rosary, National Migration Week) and initiatives of National Pastoral Migratoria (e.g. Instituto).

6. Support the design and execution of PM Chicago communications strategies (e.g. PR, e-newsletter, social media) to raise awareness and profile of the ministry.

7. Support program evaluation efforts (e.g. development and collection of activity logs, stories, testimonies; development of ministry report).

8. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor?s in social science or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience

2. 3-5 years of work experience in grassroots leadership in an immigrant social ministry context, preferably with parish communities, and collaborating with community-based organizations

3. Bilingual (Spanish/English) with good oral/written communication skills

4. Must demonstrate understanding, familiarity of, and support for, Catholic social teaching and the Church?s values and evangelization mission

5. Understanding of and familiarity with pastoral ministry, grassroots leadership, and methodologies of Aparecida document (e.g. See-Judge-Act)

6. Knowledge of immigration issues and legislation; committed to social justice and social action

7. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and facilitate strong relationships with pastors, external partners and immigrants

8. Excellent planning, program and organizational skills

9. Proficiency with mainstream social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and videoconferencing

10. Ability to multi-task and adapt to sudden changes/challenges
