Job description: Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9?12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Coordinator for ESL ACADEMIA 60 Parent Program

Location: Washington Elementary/Remote Learning

Qualifications: Must have a Valid Illinois Administrative Certificate Type 75, (Bilingual Certification and/or ESL endorsement preferred). Experience working in Adult Education Programs.

Responsibilities:

1. To provide guidance for teachers in implementing the Burlington English Curriculum.

2. To Develop and conduct workshops for teachers / support staff.

3. To conduct student intake, assessment, and placement of new students.

4. To provide a pre and post-test utilizing the Burlington English curriculum for parents and prepare a report of the results.

5. To observe classrooms and ensure that curriculum is being well implemented with fidelity.

7. To facilitate teachers? activities for children and parents to share at the end of class each week.

8. To open the building each session and make sure the facility is ready.

9. To supervise every aspect of the functioning of the program for smooth operation.

10. To close and secure the building each session.

11. To distribute materials needed for instruction, provide a check out list to teachers, conduct an inventory of supplies and materials, and return any materials to the EL Program Department at Lincoln Center at the end of classes.

12. To collect, analyze, interpret and report on project data. Compose narrative and statistical reports for grant reporting.

13. To conduct classroom visits to ensure curriculum is being implemented.

14. To work in conjunction with District Parent Engagement Manager.

Requirements: The ideal candidate would have strengths in communication skills, both written and verbal, is self-motivated and a great team leader with creativity and problem-solving skills. Must plan and coordinate the ESL program, order materials and hold training required for teachers and other staff.

Salary: $40 per hour/6 hours per week.

Work Year: 2023-2024

Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 ? 8:00 PM

June 5, 2023 through June 29, 2023
