Title: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

Position Summary: The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in music theory. Expected start date: August 1, 2024.

Responsibilities will include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in music theory, including core theory classes in large-lecture format; supervising research in area(s) of expertise; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; and participating on departmental committees, doctoral advisory committees, and in other departmental activities, as well as service on Jacobs School of Music committees.

Basic Qualifications: A completed Ph.D. degree in music theory or its equivalent is required by time of appointment. Qualifications include a record of scholarly accomplishment, an active program of research, and experience in both graduate and undergraduate teaching. We are particularly interested in candidates who can support the department in its continuing efforts to expand and diversify our curriculum as we envision the future of our field. The music theory department is equally committed to excellence in teaching and to fostering scholarship in both new and existing areas in the discipline.

Salary and Rank: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Rank will be Assistant Professor.
