Job description: Working from one of our Family Service Centers, the Instructional Designers will open educational resources, web 2.0 tools and division level online instructional frameworks to design standards aligned, proprietary courses that integrate educational technology and build 21st century skills.
Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Course Creation -
- Create new courses in content area, and work with the team to create cross content courses when assigned
- Integrate the educational technology across all courses
- Design vertically and horizontally-aligned lessons plan and unit plans
- Produce clear, concise technical writing that conforms with established style and writing guidelines
- Research, identify, and integrate high-quality text and media resources
- Plan and author content using universal design for learning (UDL).
- principles of Understanding by Design when drafting and revising lesson and unit plans
- Construct formative, summative, and performance assessments
- Creates a process for receiving course issues, edits and feedback from teachers, learning coaches, administrators in a streamlined system that is easy for stakeholders to navigate and access.
- Completes course updates in the master courses as requested, or as needed, based upon this feedback and communicates revisions to teachers with active courses..
- Stays abreast of new technologies and instructional strategies related to content area
- Updates and revises courses on a schedule created with the Learning Department admin team to incorporate content updates and LMS revisions
- Maintain and update course(s) scope and sequence.
- Works with the curriculum director to ensure all course materials are maintained and updated as needed
- Organizes and implements trainings related to the courses and content area
- Support and mentor new designers in content area
- Flexible, independent, motivated, innovative, open minded, and creative individual with experience designing online learning opportunities for learners
- Understanding and ability to apply a backwards design philosophy for unit and lesson planning using our curriculum maps
- Must be able to work full time at a CCA Family Service Center
- Excellent technology skills and ability to use to learn a variety of programs quickly and fluidly
- Experience using various LMS platforms
- Experience using, or willingness to learn, course design with open educational resources and Web2.0 tools
- ?Ability to meet deadlines and work within established guidelines for course design
- Collaborative and participatory, with an interest in detail, design and online learning models.
- Must be a team player willing to work towards a consensus on design issues and problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Customer focused approach with a high degree of flexibili ty
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
- Ability to work remotely, if necessary
- ?Willingness to travel on occasion (will require occasional overnight travel)
- ?Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lif t, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.
