Situated in the beautiful Finger Lake region of New York, the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for a tenure eligible appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance to begin August 16, 2024. Position Description: The successful candidate will teach assigned classes at the undergraduate level in beginning to advanced levels of acting practice and coordinate intimacy staging, as needed, in production and classes. In addition, the successful applicant would have secondary areas of expertise in two or more of the following: audition techniques/career preparation, stage combat, acting for the camera, movement for the stage, integrated voice and movement, voice and speech, or directing.

Ongoing scholarly/creative/professional activity will be expected and supported. In addition to intimacy coordination, opportunities may exist for the candidate to contribute as a stage director in the production season. Faculty participate in the life of the department by auditioning prospective students, advising majors, and serving on committees in the practice of shared governance.

Qualifications: A terminal degree in an appropriate or related discipline (such as an MFA in acting, performance, or directing) is required; a current record of professional activity and demonstrable potential for successful college-level teaching within the context of an interdisciplinary and immersive liberal arts education is preferred. Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess, or are on a pathway towards, certification as an intimacy professional.

About Us: The , housed within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, combines conservatory style training with a broad education in the liberal arts. Degree programs include four B.F.A. pre-professional programs (acting, musical theatre, stage management, and theatre production & design), a B.S. in theatre administration, a B.A. in theatre studies, and minors in Theater or Dance. The Center is consistently ranked among the top undergraduate programs in the nation by The Princeton Review and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Our robust production season includes plays, musicals, dance, and opera in three venues housed in the Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts.
