Job Description:

The at Sacred Heart University seeks applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position to expand upon the criminology portion of their current faculty. A demonstrable commitment to teaching, research, student advisement, and social justice is strongly preferred. This position is scheduled to begin in August 2024, pending final budgetary approval. Candidates must display an appreciation of interdisciplinary approaches to the disciplines of criminology and criminal justice and have broad training in the liberal arts and social sciences.

While the area of expertise is open, the successful candidate will have the ability to teach a range of courses bridging criminological and sociological perspectives. Expertise or interest in teaching courses around Corrections is highly desired. Candidates with teaching and research backgrounds that would broaden the current course offerings of the department are highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field. A J.D. alone is not equivalent for this position.
  • Academic credentials commensurate with appointment to the rank of assistant professor or in exceptional cases as associate professor.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to actively promote a culture of inclusion and belonging and participate in developmental activities related to diversity, equity and inclusion that are consistent with "Stronger Together" as described in the
