Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The A. The Clark School is dedicated to leading and transforming the engineering discipline and profession, to accelerating entrepreneurship, and to transforming research and learning activities into new innovations that benefit millions.

The Consortium for Innovative Transportation Education (CITE) is a unique organization within the Center for Advanced Transportation (CATT) at the University of Maryland College Park. CITE provides interactive online courses for transportation professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in transportation systems management and operations (TSMO). Since it's inception in 2000, CITE has developed, delivered and maintained a variety of online offerings including full-semester courses, independent study short courses, blended courses, and certificate programs. Instructional Designer Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages projects to ensure consistency in course presentation
  • Collaborates with CITE Program Manager and Program Coordinator
  • Creates new content based on materials received from Subject Matter Experts
  • Modifies existing content based on direction from the Program Coordinator
  • Uploads SCORM files to LMS
  • Organizes and maintains course materials
Work Hours and Benefits
  • Hourly position on an as needed basis with zero to thirty hours per week as needed based on your availability
  • This position is eligible for telework
  • All interactions will be via email, web meetings, or telephone
  • Work hours are flexible - work may be completed at any time of day
  • Some day time availability is required for interaction with Program Manager and Program Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma and 8 years experience in instructional design using instructional technology
OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years experience in instructional design, education, educational technology, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and scheduling skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Strong verbal skills
  • Excellent grammar and spelling
  • Strong proficiency with industry standard design software, in particular Adobe Captivate
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, in particular Moodle
