Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Practices:
  • Work cooperatively with other teachers, administrators and staff to provide a secure learning environment for students.
  • Understand the IEP process and standards based education.
  • Utilize evidence based practices supporting specialized instruction.
  • Assure each student receives appropriate educational services and is treated in a fair and equitable manner with respect and professionalism.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of Aspen Ridge?s curriculum program and show evidence of preparation as required.
Student Growth and Development:
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission, vision, and beliefs of Aspen Ridge.
  • Counsel/assist students with social and academic problems.
  • Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to promote continued success.
Classroom Management and Organization:
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage students? behavior in accordance with school policies and programs and student handbooks.
  • Maintain a disciplined classroom by establishing routines to create a safe, organized and welcoming environment.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Regularly maintain your teacher page on the Aspen Ridge Prep School website.
Communication:
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Respond to student/parent concerns in a respectful and constructive manner.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development:
  • Support Aspen Ridge?s philosophy, community and policies.
  • Follow policies and procedures established by the ARPS governing board and administration.
  • Work collaboratively in planning and delivering instruction; participating in professional development; and engaging in an on-going exchange of ideas.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, school committees, school events, educational conferences and teacher training workshops (occasionally after school and on weekends).
  • Use school resources prudently and follow ARPS?s financial policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and learning of all students.
  • Diligently follow the Employee Handbook.
Other:
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Supervise students during arrival, dismissal and lunch/recess as assigned.
  • Participates in programs and activities that enhance APRS outside of instructional hours, such as extracurricular activities, leadership positions, school tours and/or the enrollment process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise teacher assistant(s), volunteer(s), and student teacher(s) as assigned.
Equipment Used:
  • Computer, interactive white boards, document cameras, iPads, and software necessary for administrative and educational tasks.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  • Be able to meet mental demands of teaching assignment (i.e. maintain emotional control under stress). Be able to meet physical demands of teaching assignment (i.e. frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing). Be able to maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning (i.e. moving media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment).
Qualifications:
  • Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Colorado teaching license with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • Ability to research and develop teaching units
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Hold a Bachelor?s Degree, current Colorado Department of Education licensure with appropriate special education endorsements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in child development and educational practices.
  • Demonstrate the ability to physically, mentally, and emotionally perform required tasks and duties essential to the position.
  • Demonstrate an operating knowledge of classroom instruction technology (computer, document camera, etc.).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Google Suites
  • Develop an operating knowledge of student information system within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Must work collaboratively.
  • Have a flexible mindset with the ability to work with limited direction.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, policy and expectation documents, staff agreements, and evaluation rubric documents. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, staff, teachers, and school administrators.
