JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Schuylkill, located in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, is a member of the NAIA Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) and Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC), and is accepting applications for the Part Time Head Coach of the Women?s Lacrosse Team.

This part-time position is responsible for building the new Women?s Lacrosse program as we prepare to begin play for the spring 2024 season.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Women?s Lacrosse program, including evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and talented student-athletes; organizing, and conducting team workouts and competitions; and assisting with the scheduling of NAIA and other contests and team travel.

General Responsibilities
  • Direct the evaluation and recruitment of academically qualified and skilled student-athletes.
  • Direct practice and competition coaching.
  • Direct pre and post-season coaching, conditioning, and weight training.
  • Oversee academic monitoring and the personal development of student-athletes.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts in the Athletic department.
  • Select and manage volunteer coaches if applicable.
  • Arrange weekly practice schedules at pre-determined facilities.
  • Provide vision and leadership to create a positive team culture.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with equipment and gear orders to maximize budgets in support of the student-athlete experience.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to develop and provide accurate information to maintain the Women?s Lacrosse program marketing, social media, and webpage. Provide feedback for the Director to nominate and select weekly/season conference and national awards.
  • Develop opportunities to participate in service activities and encourage participation in the NAIA Champions of Character program. Use these opportunities to teach life lessons about respect, hard work, value of education and service to others.
Education

Required - High school diploma.

Preferred - Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

Work Experience

Required - Coaching or playing experience at the high school level.

Preferred - Collegiate coaching experience.

Licenses/Certifications

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver?s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Skills
  • Proficient communication skills.

  • Knowledge of NAIA student-athlete and institutional compliance rules and rules governing the play of various games.
  • Event and personnel management experience.
