Onsite role working full-time in a highly utilized campus recreation setting
Harvard Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is hiring for an experienced Assistant Director of Marketing & Outreach. In this role, you will manage the development and implementation of all outreach and promotional programs, events, campaigns, strategies, and digital content. You'll collaborate with Harvard Athletics, across multiple facilities, developing all marketing information and managing all email, social media, website, and graphics. You'll be responsible for preparing and maintaining timelines, the annual marketing plan, and other projects as needed or assigned. Weekdays, 40 hours per week with occasional weekends and evenings required.
What You?ll Be Doing:
1) Marketing
- Develop annual goals and objectives that promote Harvard Recreation services and resources to its membership and relevant community.
- Manage Harvard Recreation mobile app. Manage and create content for Harvard Recreation?s social media platforms.
- Design all marketing materials for recreation department including but not limited to event posters and flyers, social media and web graphics, facility media streaming, and facility signage for Malkin Athletic Center, Hemenway Gymnasium, Quadrangle Recreational Athletic Center, Blodgett Pool, and Murr Fitness Center to promote events, programming, and facility updates.
- Work alongside Senior Associate Director of Athletics to redesign the Harvard recreation website in Spring 2024.
- Manage printing process for large print assets including banners, posters, and any branded Harvard Recreation material.
- Capture all photography and video for department including facility photography, event photography, virtual tours, and other areas and projects as needed.
- Work closely with Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Recreation and meet monthly with Athletics Marketing Department to cross-promote programming, brand consistency and collaborative efforts to build community at Harvard University.
- Manage communications, including management of the database, content creation, and copy for promotional channels, including the Harvard Recreation newsletter, in addition to providing communications to other departments and schools within the university.
- Design, order, and budget for Harvard Recreation giveaway items.
- In collaboration with Harvard University Trademark Office, ensure all materials adhere to Harvard Athletics brand identity guidelines.
- Coordinate and manage all recreation outreach events on and off campus. This includes special events at the Malkin Athletic Center, Hemenway Gymnasium, Quadrangle Recreational Athletic Center and student programming for the Grow. Play. Achieve. Program
- Collaborate with campus partners and participate in events/programs to promote Harvard Recreation including student resource fairs and athletic events.
- Work with Director of Recreational Facilities and Fitness to manage and maintain marketing and outreach budget.
- Collaborate with recreational operations team on member retention and customer satisfaction programs.
- Assist in general facility management, member service, and fitness.
- Bachelor?s degree in communications, marketing, graphic or web design, public relations, sport management, recreation administration, or related field and 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience producing outreach and marketing materials including graphic design, web management, and/or social media.
- Prior experience executing largescale events and projects.
- Adult CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 6 months of hire.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others. Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ideal applicants will also have knowledge of website editing, basic video production, and Adobe Creative Cloud programs and/or experience working in campus recreation, collegiate athletics, or recreation/fitness.
