This position will begin on November 13, 2023 and end on June 30, 2024.



Purpose



To provide math instructional support and improvement for the instructional staff.



Responsibilities


  • Support teachers at all levels, master, advanced, emerging, novice or struggling, to align instruction with UT-UCS curriculum standards. This includes assisting with lesson planning, modeling lessons, co-teaching, providing guided practice and observing teachers during instruction. Ensure that district curriculum is implemented as required.

  • Mentor and monitor teachers in the mastery of district professional development initiatives. Provide support and feedback to the teacher and the principal on progress toward mastery of required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Facilitate teacher staff development for effective instructional practices.

  • Meet with school leadership team on a regular basis to examine school data and assist in school-wide planning, including professional development. Participate in planning district professional development as requested.

  • Assist teachers in disaggregating, analyzing, and disseminating data to drive decisions on instructional placement and responsive action to help students.

  • Assist teachers with identifying students in need of targeted support, determining grouping, and scheduling of appropriate interventions and responsive action. Work with and collaborate with outside agencies. Actively pursue a long-range program of professional growth; continually seeking self-improvement.

  • Attend and participate in appropriate conferences and staff development activities to improve job- related skills.

  • Attend and participate in coaches? meetings and serve on committees as required.

  • Participate in professional organizations and disseminate ideas and information to appropriate staff.

  • Compile and maintain records of instructional materials and supplies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications



Commitment to a reflective practitioner model for self and teachers. Able to assist the principals in building a professional learning community on the campuses. Understands differentiated instruction. Understands TEKS and the curriculum standards of the State of Texas. Understands and supports accountability. Knowledge of best practices relative to curriculum and instruction in various content areas. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests. Able to effectively use technology. Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university and five years' experience. Copy of OFFICIAL college transcript from each college attended required upon employment. Valid teaching certificate required. All positions at the university are security sensitive and a background check will be conducted on all new applicants hired. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.



Preferred Qualifications



More than five or more years of exemplary teaching experience as a math classroom teacher at the elementary and/or middle school level. Experience creating and presenting professional development at the campus and/or district level. Campus leadership experience (Instructional Specialist, team leader, grade level chair, department chair, etc.). Familiar with Eureka Math and/or Carnegie Learning.



Salary Range



$61,153



Working Conditions



Campuses are located on partner facility locations. Classrooms are atypical and range from camping treatment centers to psychiatric hospitals to gymnastics facilities. May require occasional extended work hours or attendance at mandatory training. Exercise independent judgment & make decisions with few guidelines. Travel to facilities within Texas will be required.
