The San Bernardino County Museum is recruiting for an energetic Museum Educator who is responsible for supporting the development, promotion, and presentation of education and public programs to an audience of schools groups and the public both in the museum and in outreach programming. This position will be part of a team to plan participatory educational programs based on community interests, and design engaging presentations to be delivered to museum visitors. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment, which includes fingerprinting and medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required, as incumbents will work at the various Museum sites throughout the County. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Availability: Incumbents will be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed coursework from an accredited* college or university in Museum Studies, Education, Early Childhood Development, or one of the disciplines featured in the museum's collections, which includes history, earth sciences, or life sciences.
--AND--
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year (full-time equivalent) hands-on interaction with children, customers, clients, or visitors, in the teaching, leading, tutoring, or instruction of educational classes, workshops, and activities.
*Note: Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. In addition, degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at the college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The ideal candidate will have experience in engaging the public, and presenting to and interacting with children in an educational setting.
