This is a part time position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. Part time positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

The City and County of Denver's boasts one of the most expansive and diverse park systems in the Rocky Mountain West, offering more than 250 urban parks; eight golf courses; over 14,000 acres of mountain parks; the Buffalo Bill Museum; over 80,000 trees; and more. Parks & Recreation also provides and manages 30 neighborhood recreation centers that offer hundreds of affordable programs throughout the year to the community.

The is looking to hire dedicated and qualified Gym Attendants to be a part of their team. Gym Attendants play a key role in creating safe and enjoyable spaces within the recreation center and delivering a high level of customer service to visitors. Gym Attendants contribute to the day-to-day operations of the recreation center by helping to enforce policy, instruct activities, inspect equipment, and be a personal connection between the recreation center and customers.

Gym Attendants are paid $18.83/hour.

As a Gym Attendant, you will:

Create and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment within the gymnasium and fitness areas by serving as a liaison between the facility and users

Promote safety and enthusiasm for the use of the recreation center by exhibiting superior customer service skills and enforcing department policies, when appropriate

Inspect gymnasium and fitness area equipment, ensuring proper documentation, and reporting and following through with necessary repairs or maintenance

Teach, instruct, and/or facilitate after school programs such as, but not limited to: basketball, dance, and gym games

Set up and break down small to large equipment for programs and games

Assist with the organization and administration of special events or programs in the gymnasium and fitness areas

Ensure fair and equitable use of the gymnasium and fitness center for all participants and recreation center users

Perform other related duties as assigned

About You

We are looking for candidates with a passion and interest in recreation and fitness. Our ideal candidate will possess superior customer service skills and an inclination towards ensuring safety. Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess all or a combination of the following:

Experience ensuring efficient and safe operations within a recreation or fitness center

Experience demonstrating and facilitating proper use of light to heavy fitness/gym equipment

Experience instructing after school programs or games

Current possession of a CPR/First Aid Certification

Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities.

Licensure(s)/Certifications: Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
