Job description: The University of Southern California is seeking applicants for a full-time Curriculum Coordinator for the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. The Kaufman School of Dance is a dynamic community working to empower tomorrow?s dance thought leaders through artistry and scholarship. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs, this position will serve as USC Kaufman?s primary liaison for curriculum and the schedule of classes to the USC registrar. The role will entail close collaboration with the faculty, especially the Chair of the Curriculum Committee, and will effectively serve as a centralized resource to all staff and faculty on matters of curriculum, course scheduling and academic policy and procedure. The Curriculum Coordinator will also participate in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with University curriculum requirements.
Job Accountabilities
- Assists in conceptualizing, planning, preparing, coordinating, and archiving curriculum development and revision materials for USC Kaufman. Develops and refines curriculum minors for Kaufman?s Dance Minor programs in collaboration with the Curriculum Committee.. Receives, reviews and analyzes requests for changes in course and degree programs and academic policies and procedures. Assists faculty and staff in preparing and presenting new or modified courses and programs and requests for policy changes. Determines whether proposals are acceptable for review. Schedules requests for review by appropriate University committees.
- Schedules and coordinates for the USC Kaufman Curriculum Committee. Provides documentation for committee review such as meeting minutes, proposals and related memorandums. Monitors outcome of committee review. Routes committee recommendations to the University Curriculum Office for decision and communicates the results as appropriate. Coordinates potential issues associated with curriculum changes, and tracks various initiatives through multiple stage of implementation across departments.
- Responsible for Kaufman's academic course schedule administration. This includes entering courses, instructor, classroom, and grader (when applicable) information and other related data into the Student Information System (SIS) to reflect accurate information on the Schedule of Classes. Coordinates scheduling of classes with Registration, Classroom Scheduling, and USC Kaufman Operations to reserve adequate classroom and studio space.
- Creates special session codes for non-standard sessions and coordinates associated special session fees with the Bursar?s Office as needed. Partners with Student Services and assists in the administrative coordination of non-standard sessions and International Programs (Maymester abroad).
- Partners with Student Services to ensure curriculum and course scheduling fulfills the academic and scheduling requirements of USC Kaufman BFA and Minor students.
- Responsible for the annual review and revision of USC Kaufman?s section of the USC Catalogue and ensures all publications are correct and up to date. Partners with Communications department and faculty to ensure published images are current and reflect proper dance technique. Regular reviews external facing websites to ensure accuracy and up to date reflection of curriculum.
- Monitors and updates TeamUp Teaching calendar to ensure accurate course, instructor and studio/classroom information is reflected.
- Uploads course syllabi to the USC Kaufman Faculty Portal.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the USC Kaufman Faculty Deployment Policy and makes revision recommendations as needed. Partners with the Senior Faculty Affairs Coordinator and Human Resources in the creation and distribution of Faculty Deployment Schedules.
