Job Details:
Purpose
Strategically position UT Austin as a relevant and active contributor to Austin music culture. Guide and focus the Music Initiative Office (MIO) as a nexxus for all musical happenings on campus elevating UT?s brand awareness and engagement in this space. Support efforts to connect with donors through media, music, entertainment and relationships.
Responsibilities
Function as a central resource of information for the MIO, music events, education, and collaborations.
Act as consultant for UT units in developing robust music programming for their venues.
Collaborate with University Units to execute strategic plan and support foundational planning.
Develop a slate of events, experiences, and opportunities to enrich student music-related offerings.
Build community partnerships to develop volunteer, internship, and mentorship opportunities for students.
Offer academic and business experiences to elevate academic curricula where applicable.
Integrate the MIO with academic units by fostering collaboration between units to elevate and connect musical aspirations of each, creating interdisciplinary music-related events, projects, and opportunities, and championing music education initiatives.
Partner directly with campus venues.
Program and produce novel performances and series at iconic UT Venues (viz. Cactus Caf? + UNB Ballroom)
Advise and support on existing campus marquee music events (e.g. 40 Acres Fest)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree with a minimum of 10 years experience in the music and/or entertainment industry in a marketing or promotion-related role.
Minimum 10 years experience producing music and/or entertainment performances with a variety of scale and scope.
Ability to think strategically and develop creative concepts.
Results driven and ability to work well under pressure.
Visionary thinker yet able to decipher the details.
Able to adapt quickly to changing needs and expectations.
Critical thinker. Ability to solve problems, often with limited information.
Strong leadership skills with high emotional intelligence and relationship building ability.
Highly organized, collaborative, and collegial.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience leading and collaborating with a diverse team of individuals including executive leaders and in a highly-matrixed and complex work environment.
Experience in a higher education arts academic setting
Master's degree or higher
More experience than required qualifications.
Salary Range
$80,000 + depending on qualifications (prorated for 20 hours per week)
Working Conditions
Must be able to work nights and weekends
