We are seeking an energetic and skilled Dance Instructor to join our community center and provide exceptional dance education to students of all ages and levels. As a Dance Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching various dance styles, choreographing routines, and guiding students in their dance journey. Your role will be instrumental in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and a passion for dance.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Dance Instruction: Conduct dance classes and lessons in various dance styles, including but not limited to ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, or ballroom.
2. Develop Lesson Plans: Design and implement progressive and engaging lesson plans that align with the skill levels and age groups of students.
3. Choreography: Create and teach dance routines, ensuring they are age-appropriate, challenging, and showcase students' abilities.
4. Technique Training: Instruct students on proper dance techniques, footwork, body posture, and movements to improve their dance skills.
5. Musicality and Rhythm: Teach students to dance in sync with the music, develop rhythm, and understand the dynamics of different musical genres.
6. Provide Individual Feedback: Offer personalized feedback and corrections to students to help them refine their dance techniques and performance.
7. Prepare for Performances: Prepare students for dance recitals, competitions, and performances, ensuring they are well-rehearsed and confident.
8. Foster a Positive Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere that motivates students and fosters a love for dance.
9. Monitor Student Progress: Track the progress of each student and provide progress reports to parents or guardians on a regular basis.
10. Safety and Injury Prevention: Prioritize the safety of students during dance classes and rehearsals, implementing injury prevention measures.
11. Stay Updated on Dance Trends: Keep abreast of current dance trends, styles, and choreography techniques to enhance teaching methods.
Typical Qualifications
1. Dance Background: Possess a strong background in dance with expertise in one or more dance styles. Professional dance experience is advantageous.
2. Teaching Experience: Previous experience as a dance instructor, dance teacher, or choreographer is desirable.
3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
4. Passion for Dance: Demonstrate a genuine passion for dance and a desire to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
5. Patience and Encouragement: Show patience, encouragement, and empathy in working with students of different ages and skill levels.
6. Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate dance class schedules and events.

Expected salary: $15 - 20 per hour
