Key Responsibilities
Personalized Instruction: Deliver tailored instruction to individual and small groups of students with disabilities, addressing their unique learning needs in a virtual environment.
IEP Management: Develop, implement, and closely monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), setting meaningful goals and tracking each student's progress to ensure their success.
Collaborative Support: Partner with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment that fosters both academic and social-emotional growth for all students.
Student Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to identify students' needs and abilities, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to meet their evolving requirements.
Technology Integration: Utilize virtual teaching tools and platforms to engage students in a dynamic remote learning experience, making the most of technology to enhance their education.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all educational services are delivered in full compliance with state and federal special education regulations and guidelines.
Effective Communication: Maintain clear and open lines of communication with students, parents, and staff, keeping everyone informed about student progress and any adjustments needed to support their learning.
Ongoing Professional Development: Stay current with the latest best practices in special education and virtual instruction by actively participating in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
A valid teaching certification in Special Education for the state of Alaska.
Experience working with students with disabilities, with a preference for experience in virtual or remote settings.
A strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and their families in a virtual environment.
Proficiency in using virtual communication tools and educational technology.
The ability to work independently, managing a remote caseload effectively.
