The Department of History at Oakland City University is searching for applicants who are eager to serve as an adjunct instructor of government. The successful candidate will join a small-and-collegial department on main campus (located in Oakland City, IN) in August 2019. We especially invite degree-qualified individuals with experience teaching courses addressing state and local government to apply. Qualifications

Required -
? Master's degree in a field closely related to Government or Political Science, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Government or Political Science.
? Evidence of potential for effective teaching.
? Experience with college level instruction.
? Experience utilizing interactive teaching methods that promote student engagement.
? Potential for scholarly activity, ongoing scholarly activity, and/or a record of scholarly publications in the field.
? Evidence of significant professional and leadership activities.
? An understanding of and commitment to a liberal arts education at a Christian University.
? Experience with collaborative learning, the use of technology in education, and hybrid and online teaching preferred.
Preferred -
? Ph. D. in Government, Political Science, or closely related field (e.g., Public Policy Administration, Diplomacy, International Studies/Relations) OR Master's degree in Government or Political Science.
Essential Functions
? Teach introductory and higher-level undergraduate courses for majors and non-majors in the field in face-to-face and online courses in alignment with approved course syllabi.
? Pursue continuing/ongoing research in area of concentration.
? Assist students in learning subject matter knowledge and skills that can lead them to grow intellectually, emotionally, professionally, and spiritually.
? Direct, assess, and evaluate student learning and assist in evaluating specific programs where courses are taught.
? Participate in faculty/instructor professional development and other initiatives when available.
? Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, peers, and community leaders.
? Select supplementary texts, materials, and equipment necessary for effective delivery of course content.
