About the position

The High School Equivalency Coordinator (Education and Program Specialist 2) at the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) is a part-time role focused on enhancing the effectiveness of GED? test programs in Oregon. This position involves collaboration with local educational institutions and community organizations to improve student outcomes and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The coordinator will provide leadership, support, and expertise in curriculum development, adult learning, and program administration, while actively engaging with partners through meetings and workshops.

Responsibilities
? Drive collaborative efforts with local GED? test programs and testing sites to improve student outcomes.

? Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding GED? programs.
,
? Provide visionary leadership and support through state initiatives that enhance GED? test curriculum and instruction.
,
? Engage with partners through in-person meetings, site visits, and workshops across the state.
,
? Conduct site visits to address specific needs and ensure alignment with policies.
,
? Oversee the administration of GED? Test Program grants and evaluate proposals.
,
? Lead statewide GED? program support by convening key partners and offering technical assistance.
,
? Foster strong connections with educational institutions, the Department of Corrections, and community organizations.

Requirements
? Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
,
? Five years of education experience coordinating adult education programs or college and career readiness programs, including two years of leadership experience.
,
? Doctorate in Education may substitute for two years of education experience, but not for leadership experience.
,
? Oregon Standard Administrative License may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.

? Experience specific to High School Equivalency programs, GED?, or Adult Basic Education programs in Oregon.

? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

? Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies.

? Experience in adult teaching or training.
