The Assistant Instructor at Capella University plays a crucial role in providing instructional and academic support to learners enrolled in courses. This position is designed to foster a positive and engaging online learning environment, where the instructor will offer personalized coaching and consultation, develop instructional materials, and facilitate office hours or group study sessions. The Assistant Instructor is expected to build an online community that promotes continuous improvement and learner engagement, ensuring that all students feel supported in their educational journey. In this collaborative role, the Assistant Instructor will participate in weekly team meetings, working closely with other educators to enhance the learning experience. Utilizing various technologies, including text and video, the instructor will create engaging learning resources that assist students in mastering course content and developing essential skills. Active participation in courseroom discussions is expected, where the instructor will lead conversations and provide feedback to learners. The Assistant Instructor will also plan and facilitate optional weekly interactive study sessions that combine content learning with effective study strategies. Assessing student learning and comprehension is a key responsibility, which may involve both informal assessments and formal evaluations using rubrics for discussions and assignments. Staying current with essential technologies, such as Yellowdig and Kaltura, is vital for maintaining effective learner records and enhancing the educational experience. This position requires a commitment of 30 hours per week and is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. While most duties can be performed during evenings and weekends, some availability during regular business hours for training, team meetings, and learner appointments is necessary. The Assistant Instructor is also expected to check into the courseroom on weekends to ensure ongoing support for students.

Requirements
? Three years of professional experience in counseling or related fields.

? PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision or closely related field required.

? Experience with teaching or tutoring is essential.

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

? Demonstrated effective time management skills.

? Strong relationship-building, customer service, and problem resolution skills.

? Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices.

? Ability to assess individual and group learning needs.
Nice-to-haves
? Graduate Assistant or teaching experience preferred.
