Behavioral Health Billing Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Behavioral Health Billing Specialist to join our team at a leading national provider of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, contributing to the financial health of our organization while supporting the delivery of exceptional behavioral health care. Proficiency in KIPU EMR and CollaborateMD billing software is preferred but not required for this role.

Key Responsibilities: ? Billing Operations: ? Process and submit claims to insurance companies for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services using CollaborateMD. ? Review patient accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with billing regulations. ? Resolve discrepancies or issues related to billing and coding. ? Insurance Verification and Follow-Up: ? Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to claim submission. ? Monitor claims to ensure they are processed in a timely manner, addressing denials and rejections promptly. ? Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims with insurance providers and patients. ? EMR and Billing Software Utilization: ? Effectively navigate and utilize KIPU EMR for patient record management and CollaborateMD for billing workflows and insurance claims. ? Ensure all billing-related data entered into both systems is accurate and up to date. ? Stay proficient in updates and enhancements to both platforms to optimize billing processes. ? Coding Compliance: ? Utilize appropriate behavioral health CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes in accordance with current regulations. ? Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and insurance requirements. ? Reporting and Record Keeping: ? Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of billing activities within KIPU and CollaborateMD. ? Generate and analyze billing and payment reports to identify trends and areas for improvement. ? Collaboration and Communication: ? Work closely with clinical staff, administrative teams, and payers to resolve billing-related issues. ? Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.

Qualifications: ? Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of billing experience in behavioral health or a related healthcare field. ? Knowledge: Strong understanding of behavioral health billing procedures, insurance policies, and regulations. ? Technical Skills: ? Proficiency in medical billing software, specifically CollaborateMD, with hands-on experience using KIPU EMR preferred. ? Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and general medical billing tools. ? Certifications: Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CHC) preferred but not required. ? Skills: Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:
based on experience and qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
