Cognizant is seeking a Transit City Expert to join our team, dedicated to ensuring that Maps Data remains current and accurately reflects real-world changes. This role is crucial in enhancing transit data and providing country-specific expertise. The Transit City Expert will be responsible for developing and maintaining transit data pipelines, establishing ground truth in their city or country, and consulting on Transit and Micro mobility projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning and data analytics, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external companies to achieve project goals. In this position, the Transit City Expert will apply existing mapping policies to their specific city or country, providing insights into local transit and traffic laws, landmarks, and key mapping features. They will also review mapping operations issues for quality checks related to their areas of expertise and act as a point of contact for mapping operations country-specific questions. The role involves documenting and analyzing the information needs for product improvement and facilitating the delivery of appropriate solutions. Additionally, the expert will perform market comparison analysis of features, data, or issues related to local transit and proactively suggest improvements to the data management platform. The Transit City Expert will create city-level transit data modeling policies based on market needs and local regulations, leveraging their familiarity with local urban transit systems to identify patterns and systematic data problems. They will manage city-specific data pipelines through the transit data management platform, including updating pipelines using basic programming skills. The role requires conducting in-city field research to determine the ground truth of transit issues and user problems, validating the quality of new and updated data, and providing on-call support during non-working hours and weekends in case of any data outages.
Responsibilities
? Communicating with internal stakeholder teams and external companies to achieve project goals.

? Providing input to create city/country specific policy to existing general transit related policy.

? Applying existing Mapping policies to specific city/country, providing insights into local transit/traffic laws, landmarks and key mapping features.

? Consulting on Urban transit system and Multi modal (including Micro mobility & Walking).

? Reviewing mapping operations issues for quality checks related to specific city/countries of expertise.

? Acting as a point of contact for mapping operations country-specific questions.
,
? Documenting and analyzing the information needs of the product improvement for client and facilitating to deliver appropriate solutions.

? Performing market comparison analysis of the features, data or issues related to local transit.
,
? Proactively suggesting improvements to the data management platform and identifying transit user expectations, data gaps and providing insights to the product team.
,
? Providing inputs to product/partnerships teams regarding local transportation modes and growth opportunities.
,
? Acting as a Country/Regional Transit POC for internal and external teams.
,
? Creating city level transit data modeling policies based on market needs and local regulations.
,
? Identifying patterns and systematic data problems or gaps in transit data and making changes in the data model to improve and solve the issues.

? Making necessary edits for all transit data types if the provided static data is not accurate.
,
? Assisting Program Managers to communicate with the partner/provider about required data fixes or inform about problematic data areas.

? Conducting data evaluation and GTFS mapping for prioritized cities to identify need for internal adaptors, standardization.

? Gaining in-depth knowledge of the data, processes, tools and policy applicable to all processes/data types.
,
? Translating and interpreting comments and actions from various sources and troubleshooting problems based on instructions, training and context.

? Field escalating complex or edge-case data issues from internal teams and resolving appropriately including creating bugs for external teams.

? Conducting in city field research to determine the ground truth of transit issues and user problems.

? Validating quality of new and updated data in the data management platform.
,
? Managing city specific data pipelines through the transit data management platform, including updating pipelines using basic programming skills.

? Developing outages and alerts capabilities in their assigned city by effective monitoring.
,
? Working with other internal teams to ensure correct political format for the country is utilized.
,
? Providing on-call support during non-working hours and weekends in case of any data outages.
Requirements
? 1 - 3 years of experience in a relevant field.
,
? Good communication skills (read, write and speak) in English and native local language.
,
? Basic data analytics and technical writing skills are required.
,
? Deep knowledge about city/country transit/traffic network and urban planning.
,
? Knowledge of transit-specific data format is an added advantage (GTFS especially).

? Basic/Good knowledge about GIS mapping tools and programming skills (Java, C#, C++ and Python) would be an added advantage.

? Comfortable with a rapidly-changing environment.

? Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
