Assistant Risk Manager, Mortgage Insurance Fund

The Assistant Risk Manager for the Mortgage Insurance Fund at MassHousing plays a crucial role in supporting both external and internal customers by managing mortgage insurance servicing functions. This position involves general ledger reconciliations, risk analysis, reinsurance matters, claim reviews, and reporting to government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) and reinsurers. The role requires collaboration with various departments and external partners to ensure accurate systems and portfolio management, as well as participation in reinsurance negotiations and contract maintenance.
Responsibilities
? Collaborate with Financial Reporting department to reconcile all general ledger transactions regarding the Mortgage Insurance Fund (MIF).

? Work closely with reinsurance partners on reporting and contractual issues.

? Collaborate with actuarial partners on quantitative risk analysis and reporting needs.

? Develop, implement, and maintain a risk management framework.
,
? Make recommendations based on fact-based analysis using internal and external data sources.

? Conduct research and maintain awareness of business environment, government events, and regulatory changes.
,
? Identify and investigate impacts of market and loan risk factors.
,
? Ensure prompt handling of all MIF obligations.
,
? Provide information for the annual MIF financial audit and quarterly review.
,
? Partner with IT staff to address system enhancements and issues.
,
? Perform default servicing activities and maintain documentation for processes.
,
? Review and coordinate processing of all claim requests.
,
? Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual servicing reconciliations and discuss trends with management.

? Coordinate and prepare standard and ad hoc reporting using data analysis tools.
Requirements
? Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, risk management, banking, economics or related field.

? Minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibilities in accounting/finance/risk management/mortgage-related business.

? Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

? Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

? Effective time management and project management skills.

? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and various technological platforms.

? Highly proficient with Statistical Analyst Software and Excel.
