The Outside Auto Appraiser position at Travelers involves inspecting, estimating, negotiating, and evaluating both first and third-party auto physical damage claims. This role is crucial in managing claims related to personal and business insurance, focusing on basic to moderate physical damage coverages. The appraiser will assess various types of claims, including collision, comprehensive, property damage, and claims involving fire, theft, flood, and diminished value. The appraiser will work closely with Auto Claim Professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for each claim, providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the claims process. This position is fully remote, allowing for a combination of mobile work and work from home. The appraiser will be responsible for delivering consistent service quality throughout the claim lifecycle, which includes prompt communication, setting expectations, and following through on commitments. The role requires effective management of work assignments, including traveling to the location of vehicles or equipment when necessary. The appraiser will utilize technical expertise and company-recognized resources to accurately determine the physical claim value and prepare detailed damage appraisals according to regulatory and corporate guidelines. Additionally, the appraiser will negotiate settlements with customers and repair facilities, ensuring that all claims are resolved efficiently and in accordance with company policies. The position also involves conducting damage management and maintaining appropriate claim reserves. The appraiser will be expected to stay current on jurisdictional laws and regulations and may need to obtain and maintain necessary insurance licenses. Participation in the Catastrophe Response Program may also be required, which could involve extended travel to assist customers in other states.
Responsibilities
? Inspect, estimate, negotiate, and evaluate 1st and 3rd party auto physical damage claims.

? Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact and effective communication.

? Manage work assignments and travel to vehicle/equipment locations as needed.

? Scope claims using technical expertise and company resources to determine physical claim value.

? Prepare and document accurate vehicle/equipment damage appraisals according to guidelines.

? Partner with assigned Claim Professionals throughout the claim process to ensure appropriate resolution.

? Negotiate claims with customers and repair facilities to achieve agreement on value.
,
? Determine settlement amounts for Total Loss claims, including applicable coverages and deductibles.
,
? Provide inspection assistance to various lines of business as needed, including Catastrophe response.

? Review and analyze coverage and apply policy conditions relevant to auto damage claims.

? Conduct damage management and manage the repair process effectively.
,
? Establish and maintain appropriate claim and expense reserves.
,
? Develop and document a plan of action for vehicle repairs, maintaining an effective diary for timely resolution.

? Communicate claim damage assessments following negotiations with repair facilities.

? Obtain authorization to initiate payments to customers or repair facilities.
,
? Participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, which may include deployment for a minimum of 16 days.
Requirements
? High School Degree or GED with a minimum of one year auto appraisal experience required.

? Valid Driver's License.

? Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree or Technical School Degree preferred.

? State appraiser and claim handling licenses preferred.

? Two years of auto appraisal experience preferred; prior experience with insurance carrier preferred.

? Strong technical background in auto repair and repair techniques.

? Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations.

? Proficiency in Windows, including Excel and Word.

? Strong mathematical and negotiation skills.

? Ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
