Credit Review Officer, Sr. or Ld
Posted 2025-03-14About the position
The Credit Review Officer, Sr. or Ld position involves a comprehensive review of assigned loans across Community, Wholesale, and Retail examinations to evaluate the quality of loan portfolios within specific business lines or portfolio sectors. The role requires a detailed analysis and assessment of underwriting quality, credit administration practices, and the accuracy of risk ratings across various loan types and financial analysis scenarios. The officer will ensure compliance with loan policies and regulatory requirements while collaborating with Account Officers, Credit Risk Managers, and Credit Officers to gather and analyze information necessary for an independent assessment of credit risk that aligns with the bank's credit risk appetite. This position also entails challenging the appropriateness of credit administration and risk rating accuracy when necessary, providing both written and verbal feedback to support findings and conclusions. In this role, the officer will conduct systematic reviews of assigned loans to evaluate underwriting adequacy, the soundness of loan policies and processes, credit monitoring activities, documentation adequacy, collateral evaluation, risk rating accuracy, and problem loan administration. All reviews must measure compliance with loan policies and regulatory requirements. The officer will interact with lending and credit staff, preparing for and participating in loan discussions where risk rating accuracy or other findings may be challenged. Additionally, the officer will produce reports documenting review findings for presentation to department management, following an established structure per department guidelines. Continuous monitoring activities on assigned portfolios are also a key responsibility, along with assisting or serving as Examiner-in-Charge and Team Leader when needed. This includes identifying the scope and plans for resources, conducting and participating in reviews, and overseeing the activities of assigned team members involved in examinations. The officer will maintain a thorough understanding of Synovus Bank's lending policies and procedures to ensure policy compliance during reviews and stay informed about new loan products, industry trends, and regulatory changes. Each team member is expected to be aware of risks within their functional area, observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to their role, and reporting any known or suspected violations to the appropriate company authority in a timely manner.
