About the position

The Nurse Navigator - Oncology Genetics and Research position at the Philadelphia Research and Education Foundation (PREF) involves managing genetic counseling and testing initiatives to support patients requiring genetic testing. This role is crucial in standardizing testing procedures across multiple sites and supporting clinical research efforts in oncology genetics. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth of a cancer clinical research program while developing new skills in a dynamic research environment.

Responsibilities
? Identify patients across VISN4 who require genetic testing.

? Provide patient support for clinical genetic and genomics testing, guiding patients through point-of-care testing and facilitating post-test counseling as needed.

? Obtain necessary records and specimens from non-VA facilities to facilitate comprehensive somatic testing.
,
? Assist family members with genetic counseling resources when appropriate.
,
? Standardize germline and somatic testing procedures across multiple sites.
,
? Collaborate with non-VA facilities to locate and obtain necessary medical records and specimens.
,
? Support the conduct of both interventional and non-interventional clinical cancer research conducted at CMCVAMC.
,
? Collaborate with sponsor entities and the CMCVAMC regulatory team on study activation and management.
,
? Assist with study start-up activities, screening/enrollment, scheduling of study-related visits, data collection, safety reporting, and study close-out activities.
,
? Participate in formalized genetics training if needed, including coursework and case studies.
,
? Train new research staff on cancer genetics testing and research protocols.
,
? Collaborate closely with local Hematology/Oncology clinical team and research team, and with providers and research teams at other VA locations across VISN4.

? Facilitate clinical meetings and respond to data discrepancies or monitoring/audit findings.

Requirements
? Graduated from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) with completed requirements for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).

? Registered Nurse with license to practice.

? 2-3 years of oncology nursing experience required.

? Demonstrated interest in clinical cancer genetics and a commitment to developing related skills.

? Proven ability to learn and apply new concepts, work collaboratively, organize and prioritize tasks, and problem-solve effectively.

? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves
? Oncology Nursing Certification preferred.

? Clinical research experience preferred.
,
? Experience in a multi-modality clinical trials group or research team is a plus.
