A2 Labs LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Accounting to lead our accounting and financial operations and support our activities related to federal government contracts, including those with organizations such as DARPA, DHS, and DCMA. This role offers the flexibility of working either onsite in Arlington, VA, or remotely, with periodic travel to Arlington required (quarterly). The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in accounting operations within a small company, ensuring compliance with FAR regulations, managing accounting software systems (Deltek Costpoint/QuickBooks), maintaining a strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and demonstrating expert-level Excel skills. Moreover, the candidate should have a proven track record of successfully dealing with audits conducted by DCMA.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting Leadership: Provide strategic accounting leadership and guidance to the executive team, contributing to the company's overall growth and financial stability.

2. Federal Government Contracts: Oversee all accounting aspects of federal government contracts, ensuring compliance with FAR regulations, accurate financial reporting, and effective cost management. Facilitate audits conducted by DCMA and ensure all audit-related requirements are met.

3. Accounting Software Management: Proficiently manage accounting software systems, including Deltek Costpoint and QuickBooks, to streamline accounting processes and maintain accurate accounting records.

4. GAAP Compliance: Ensure the company's accounting operations align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preparing financial statements and reports in accordance with industry standards.

5. Excel Expertise: Possess expert-level Excel skills, including the ability to create complex accounting models, perform advanced data analysis, and automate reporting processes using advanced Excel functions and features.

6. Credentials: The ideal candidate should possess relevant credentials, such as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant), to demonstrate expertise in financial management.

7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support the company's accounting objectives and provide financial insights for decision-making.

8. Independence: Demonstrate the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, manage accounting initiatives, and drive results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting operations, preferably in small companies supporting federal government contracts.
  • Strong understanding of FAR compliance and federal government contract financial management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems, including Deltek Costpoint and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting.
  • Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced functions and data analysis capabilities.
  • Relevant credentials, such as CPA or CMA.
  • Proven experience in dealing with audits conducted by DCMA.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
