Position Title: Full-Time Domestic Violence Housing Navigator

Location: Los Angeles County, CA

Position Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Overview

We are on the lookout for a compassionate and driven individual to join our organization as a Domestic Violence Housing Navigator. This pivotal role involves offering landlord engagement, retention strategies, and comprehensive case management services to women and gender-expansive individuals facing homelessness due to domestic violence. Our mission is to connect these individuals with sustainable housing solutions, thereby supporting their transition towards stability and self-sufficiency. As a field-based case manager, your contributions will be vital in identifying available housing options throughout Los Angeles County and assisting clients in successfully obtaining permanent housing.

Key Responsibilities
? Establish and nurture collaborative partnerships with landlords and property management firms within Los Angeles County.
? Offer tailored field-based case management services, including the creation of personalized service plans and conducting bio-psycho-social assessments on a quarterly basis.
? Lead housing search and living skills workshops for participants who are newly housed or actively seeking housing units.
? Work in conjunction with Housing Stabilizers to provide vital housing leads and assistance to those experiencing homelessness.
? Organize and execute quarterly events aimed at engaging and appreciating landlords.
? Advocate for equitable housing and ensure safe living conditions for clients.
? Support clients in accessing housing, essential services, medical and mental health care, substance abuse treatment, job training resources, and public benefits.
? Address clients? needs and tackle individual barriers through persistent follow-up, advocacy, and collaboration with staff and community service providers.
? Process Public Housing Authorities (PHA) voucher applications and maintain strong partnerships with Los Angeles PHAs.
? Accurately document activities, case management notes, and services rendered for each client in a timely manner.
? Promote best practices to ensure clients retain housing and enhance life skills while improving their overall health and mental wellness.
? Cultivate and sustain relationships with clients, team members, and local service providers, and represent our organization at community functions.
? Exhibit effective crisis management and conflict resolution capabilities.
? Engage in weekly individual and group supervision, agency meetings, and required training sessions.
? Participate in quarterly peer chart reviews by offering and responding to feedback from colleagues and making necessary adjustments promptly.
? Prepare and submit weekly and monthly written reports, along with any additional reports as requested.
? Undertake other duties as needed to further the organization's mission.

Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of the complexities surrounding poverty, women's homelessness, domestic violence, mental health challenges, trauma, substance abuse, and issues affecting older adults.
? Minimum of two years of experience in a position as a case manager or housing specialist is preferred.
? At least two years of experience providing domestic violence services in a case management capacity is preferred.
? Familiarity with directly engaging landlords through property management, real estate, or housing navigation services is preferred.
? Knowledge of available local resources for individuals experiencing homelessness is preferred.
? Demonstrated active listening and crisis intervention skills, with the ability to model sound judgment.
? Proficient written and verbal communication skills, enabling engagement with diverse audiences.
? Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively, with a talent for balancing direct service duties alongside record-keeping responsibilities.
? Resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving.
? Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team dynamic.
? Fluency in both oral and written English is mandatory; proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
? Experience with HMIS or similar database management systems is preferred.
? 40-Hour Domestic Violence Certification is a plus.
? A valid California state driver's license, insurance, and a vehicle with a clean driving record are required.
? Candidates must be California residents and live within 80 miles of the organization, with availability for in-person meetings.
? Documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months is required on the first day of hire.
? A negative COVID-19 test result from the past seven days must be provided on the first day of hire, along with proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office setting and frequently utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Regular travel throughout Los Angeles County is expected.

Employees should be prepared to work onsite full-time as scheduled, with potential opportunities for remote work.
