CloseKnit is currently hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to join their team.
PURPOSE:
The Principal Systems Engineer is a key role that requires a broad set of skills and knowledge across various domains. This individual is a highly skilled generalist who is proficient in multiple areas of software development, cloud architecture, and operations. This role is pivotal in strategizing and implementing cloud solutions that meet the business needs and align with the companys technology vision. The Principal Systems Engineer ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of the cloud environment, while also mentoring team members, driving innovation, and collaborating with other technology leaders to optimize the use of cloud technologies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Design and Implementation : Design, implement, and manage complex Azure cloud-based systems infrastructure to meet the needs of the organization. This includes setting up virtual networks, data structures, integration frameworks, application hosting, and secret management.
? Lead AI Innovation: Spearhead the development and implementation of innovative AI solutions using Microsoft Azure by identifying opportunities for AI to add value, and setting goals and KPIs.
? Infrastructure Deployment: Deploy infrastructure to Azure using Terraform, Bicep, Azure CLI, or Powershell. This includes writing and executing scripts, managing resources, and ensuring best practices in infrastructure as code (IaC).
? GitHub CI/CD: Create and manage GitHub Actions for deploying infrastructure and applications to Azure. This includes writing workflows, managing repositories, and ensuring continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
? System Optimization : Optimize the performance of Azure systems and services, ensuring high availability and reliability. This includes monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and conducting regular system audits.
? Security Management: In cooperation with our Security Analysts, implement and manage security controls, policies, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and organizational requirements. This includes managing access controls, implementing Security, recommendations, and ensuring data privacy and compliance.
? Disaster Recovery Planning : Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies and solutions, including backup and restore operations, to ensure business continuity.
? Automation and Orchestration: Automate routine tasks using Azure Automation, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure EventGrid or other automation tools. Implement orchestration for complex workflows to improve efficiency.
? Azure Functions Development: Develop and maintain Azure Functions using C# and Python. This includes writing clean, efficient, and reusable code; debugging and resolving technical issues; and implementing best practices in cloud function development.
? Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to other team members. This includes mentoring junior engineers, leading technical discussions, and making strategic decisions related to Azure systems.
? Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including software developers, system administrators, and senior management, to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
? Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest Azure updates and cloud computing trends. This includes continuous learning and certification in Azure technologies.
? Vendor Management: Liaise with Microsoft and other vendors for technical support, issue resolution, and to stay updated with the latest product offerings and updates.
? Documentation: Document system configurations, procedures, and changes to ensure that the organization maintains a current knowledge base of its Azure systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level : Bachelor?s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field OR In lieu of a Bachelor?s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 10 years of relevant IT systems engineering experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
? Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure , understanding the ins and outs of the platform, from compute, storage, and networking to security, performance, and scalability.
? Expert knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools like Terraform, Bicep, ARM, Azure CLI.
? Knowledge of cloud architecture and cloud design patterns.
? Understanding of microservices and containerization.
? Familiarity with DevOps practices and Agile methodology
? Strong skills in programming languages such as Python, .NET, Powershell, etc.
? Ability to work with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps and Azure Resource Manager .
? Ability to lead and mentor team members.
? Capable of designing, building, and managing a highly reliable and scalable Azure infrastructure.
? Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and stakeholders.
? Able to drive innovation, such as new AI solutions and optimize the use of cloud technologies.
Salary Range: $136,800 ? $244,530
