About the position

The Mainframe Software Engineer Senior Consultant II at National General Insurance is responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining complex mainframe application solutions. This role involves collaborating with onsite-offshore teams, providing production support, and ensuring the reliability and performance of existing applications. The position requires a strong understanding of mainframe technologies and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Responsibilities
? Develop, implement, and provide Post Production Validation support for newly developed code.

? Analyze complex mainframe programs to identify the required changes.

? Translate business requirements into technical specifications for mainframe applications.
,
? Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of existing mainframe applications.
,
? Provide weekly and nightly on-call support once a month.
,
? Resolve mainframe job abends and ensure the completion of the batch cycle on time.
,
? Work with onsite-offshore teams and coordinate tasks with the offshore team.
,
? Work closely with business stakeholders, business/systems analysts, and IT teams to understand data needs and deliver effective mainframe solutions.
,
? Provide training and support to end-users on mainframe applications functionality.
,
? Conduct testing and validation of mainframe solutions to ensure the desired functionality works correctly.
,
? Troubleshoot and resolve data issues and discrepancies.
,
? Stay updated with the latest mainframe technologies, tools, and best practices.
,
? Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of mainframe solutions.

Requirements
? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

? Minimum of 4 years of experience in developing/supporting mainframe applications.
,
? Proficiency in COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL.
,
? Minimum of 2 years IDMS database knowledge.
,
? At least one year experience in Lender Placed Insurance Tracking and services, associated processes, systems knowledge, and hands-on application development experience.
,
? Strong understanding of mainframe design principles and production support concepts.
,
? Experience with mainframe batch and online programs (CICS programs).
,
? Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
,
? Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
,
? Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
