Senior Homeowner Liability Desk Claims Adjuster - Primarily Home

This is a senior-level role focused on investigating and maintaining complex property and casualty claims. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining liability, securing necessary information, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settling third-party property liability claims. The position requires a proactive approach to managing claims, ensuring that all parties involved are kept informed throughout the process. The role is primarily home-based, with the expectation that the employee will work from home 80% of the time, while being proximate to one of the company's office locations. Occasional travel to the office may be required for team meetings, training sessions, and cultural events. The candidate will report directly to an Adjusting Services Manager and will be expected to handle claims on a good faith basis, addressing both first and third-party claims across multiple policy types and endorsements. This includes conducting on-site inspections when necessary, evaluating damages, and negotiating claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters. The role also involves interpreting and applying various policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages to assigned losses. The candidate will be expected to make independent decisions and self-supervise most files, recognizing when assistance is needed. Additionally, the role includes mentoring less experienced adjusters and serving as a subject matter expert in the field.
Responsibilities
? Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, and experts.

? Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed.

? Handle claims on a good faith basis.

? Manage third-party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.

? Conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluate damages, and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.

? Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.

? Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply them to all parties for assigned losses.

? Make independent decisions and self-supervise most files, recognizing when assistance is needed.

? Proactively provide all parties with claim process updates and status as appropriate; answer questions or redirect to other areas.

? Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
Requirements
? Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.

? Demonstrated experience handling first and third-party, multi-line claims.

? Demonstrated experience handling simple to moderately complex claims.

? Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements.

? Extensive knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.
