About the position

The Analyst position within the Private Bank at Goldman Sachs is a critical role that focuses on managing the financial resources of the Capital and Funding business unit. This position involves working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to address various issues that may arise during the loan origination and funding process. Analysts will be responsible for projecting and managing foreign exchange (FX) risk, ensuring that the financial operations align with the overall goals of the wealth management division. In collaboration with the Wealth Management Finance team, the Analyst will engage in daily profit and loss (PnL) management, monitoring risk limits, and overseeing balance sheet management and capital planning. This includes forecasting capital requirements, balance sheet metrics, and top-line revenues, which are essential for business planning and stress testing conducted by firm management. The role also supports franchise managers in driving strategic initiatives related to lending products, including new product launches, through data analysis, financial modeling, and the preparation of presentations. The Analyst will play a key role in maintaining the risk integrity of the loan book, which encompasses origination, servicing, and portfolio management. This requires coordination with underwriters, operations, and other internal stakeholders such as Controllers and Risk teams. Additionally, the Analyst will provide transaction support to structure new transactions efficiently, taking into account various factors such as entity, liquidity, capital, and internal loan booking processes, all while adhering to relevant governance and controls frameworks. Resource management is another significant aspect of this role, where the Analyst will manage the overall financial resource footprint for the loan portfolio. This includes measuring and monitoring funding sources, regulatory capital consumption, and compliance with regulations such as 23A and Reg W. The Analyst will also make recommendations regarding funding sources to maximize revenues while managing liquidity risk, and will be responsible for executing process or structural adjustments to enhance capital efficiencies. Furthermore, the Analyst will handle ad hoc requests from senior management, which may involve data management, reporting, and the creation of ad-hoc presentations.
