The position:
We are seeking to fill an Accounting Technician I Position. The Accounting Technician I will, under the direction of an Accounting Supervisor, perform a variety of responsible accounting duties related to assigned SHA accounts; prepare and process a variety of financial, statistical, and accounting documents, records and materials using a sophisticated automated system. The ideal candidate has:
? Three years accounting experience maintaining automated financial and statistical records.
? Two years of college-level course work in accounting required. May substitute additional 2 years of relevant work experience for required education.
What will you be doing?
? Perform a variety of responsible accounting duties; prepare and process a variety of financial, statistical, and accounting documents, records, and materials; maintain financial records related to assigned accounts and coordinate with other accounting, purchasing, human resources, housing, and maintenance/construction functions.
? Monitor computer printouts and analyze general ledger changes to assure accuracy of financial information, coordinating changes with other staff; maintain budgets for assigned accounts; develop and maintain itemized reports.
? Prepare journal entries; distribute cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, income and other financial transactions to appropriate accounts.
? Reconcile accounts for assigned programs, grants, departments, or activities; reconcile bank accounts as necessary.
? Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for accounting transactions in accordance with SHA policies and procedures; assure transactions are processed in accordance with timelines, vendor terms and HUD regulations.
? Analyze accounts, research invoices for payments, prepare adjusting entries, process check requests and perform other posting and reconciling functions for assigned programs, grants, accounts, and departments.
? Assist in preparation of a variety of SHA, State and HUD financial and statistical records and reports; prepare and maintain financial data for assigned grants; prepare and maintain files, lists and other documents; prepare and process a variety of financial and statistical documents.
? Coordinate with and train SHA personnel, vendors, and banks to research status of accounts and discrepancies, to correct errors and resolve issues and to obtain or exchange financial information; receive and respond to calls from vendors, banks, the general public, auditors, and HUD representatives.
? Monitor, analyze and predict cash flow; compile and distribute reports; reconcile accounts; maintain integrity of databases as assigned.
? Operate office equipment including a computer terminal and related software, ten-key, facsimile machine, calculator, and copier.
? Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the unit/program/department initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission through a spirit of service, teamwork, and respect. Work respectfully and courteously with other employees, residents, and the general public. Follow direction, and work well under pressure.

Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies, and procedures.
? Assist assigned Supervisor with special projects, financial statements, special data requests and special reports as requested.
? Prepare invoices and check requests, deposit funds, monitor cash balances, proof financial documents, maintain inventory and fixed asset records, and prepare other accounting transactions as applicable to assigned accounts.
