Position: Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Location: On site, Hybrid, or Remote Work Optional (DOE)

Schedule: 1.0 FTE - 0.6 FTE;
Full benefits at 0.80 FTE (Schedule to be determined)

Summary: The accounting assistant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by performing clerical tasks related to financial transactions, including data entry, invoice processing, maintaining records, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy of all financial information. This role utilizes accounting software in managing day-to-day financial operations. Qualified candidates must be self-directed and able to multitask in a high-paced environment with minimal direction.

A thorough knowledge of the workings of medical practices is a requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ? Process invoices accurately and timely ? Work with vendors to ensure invoice and statement accuracy ? Work with internal departments to confirm receipt of goods ? Process payment reminders ? Help track expenses against budgeted amounts ? Assist in preparation of monthly reports for management ? Assist in preparation of quarterly physician and management compensation structures ? Special projects as needed

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: At least 2 years of relevant business experience. Experience in healthcare is required. Experience in ophthalmology is preferred.

Language Ability: Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Good interpersonal skills.

Math Ability: Ability to use basic mathematical methods or formulas for business-related calculations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to think critically, problem solve, use judgment and make decisions.

Computer Skills: Charting Software, Document Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software.

Certificates and Licenses: Ophthalmic Coding Specialist preferred but not required.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The work environment is indoors and environmentally controlled.
