Description

Position Summary:

Manage all regional underwriters to ensure that processes, policies and procedures are being followed and

work meets the quality, compliance and efficiency standards set by SNMC. This position reports to the

Corporate Underwriting Manager.

Essential Functions:
? Manage all underwriters in the region to ensure they are meeting all company expectations. Meet at least monthly to provide updates.
? Manage underwriting pipeline to ensure timeframes are being met.
? Monitor production levels to make necessary adjustments (additions and/or reductions) to meet volume and schedule requirements.
? Review and hire qualified underwriting candidates when needed. Responsible for all performance and attendance issues, including terminations and disciplinary action. Submit new hires and terminations immediately for proper handling of login and system access. Complete UW delegation transfer form when an underwriter is hired and provide to policy.
? Work closely with the Regional Operations Manager to keep communication consistent across the region.
? Keep current on SNMC policies, procedures and guidelines as well as investor, agency, FHA, etc.
? Provide support to the staff by assisting with questions, promoting corporate communications and researching available resources.
? Work with Corporate trainers and/or Corporate Fulfillment Managers to ensure employees are completing required trainings and handling feedback from the trainers on how employee is absorbing the training. Provide any extra training based on performance.
? Assist in mitigating investor suspenses and agency deficiencies.
? Ensure that all underwriting Quality Control findings are mitigated by the due date. Review monthly and quarterly QC reports for trends and provide training/plans of action when needed.
? Attend all Corporate fulfillment webinars and calls, provide feedback and relay any applicable information back to the underwriters.
? Work closely with the Corporate Fulfillment Department to ensure corporate decision making and training supports region goals and market requirements.
? Help to establish and facilitate departmental goals.
? Underwrite loans as needed. Must stay up to date on SNMC process to fill in when needed.
? Review test cases for recently hired underwriters.
? Review test cases and approve delegation for FHA and/or VA underwriters.
? Review and second sign on loans as needed.
? Perform random file reviews to monitor underwriter performance.
? Complete annual underwriting performance reviews based on the information provided by policy.

Requirements

Skills:
? Strong leadership, communication, organization, attention to detail and time management skills.
? Experience with a paperless environment.
? Computer skills including knowledge of desktop underwriter, loan product advisor, GUS and WebLGY.
? Independent, self-starting team player.
? Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to work well with both internal and external customers.
? Ability to coordinate, lead and motivate staff in support of company initiatives.
? Ability to analyze and provide solutions to problems.
? Knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Non-conforming, Non-QM and State Housing/DPA guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE: At least 5+ years of FHA, VA, and Conventional mortgage experience. Management experience is preferred.

EDUCATION: High School diploma/equivalent or higher.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSING: FHA DE and VA SAR/LAPP is required.
