The Lead Fraud Investigator manages efforts in detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activities. The Lead Fraud Investigator oversees complex fraud cases, with internal and external stakeholders, and develops strategies to mitigate fraud risks for the Bank and Sponsor Banking Program. The Lead Fraud Investigator will collaborate with internal teams, external FinTech partners, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies to protect the bank and its customers from financial crimes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Lead complex fraud investigations involving both internal and external fraud cases, including ACH fraud, synthetic identity fraud, cyber fraud, account takeovers, and other emerging fraud schemes. ? Oversee fraud investigations initiated by Sponsor Banking Program partners, ensuring alignment with the bank's fraud policies and standards. ? Develop and implement investigative strategies to address fraud risks, including root cause analysis and actionable remediation plans. ? Partner with Sponsor Banking Program to advise FinTech partners on fraud prevention best practices and incident reporting requirements. ? Collaborate with internal teams, including Compliance, Financial Crimes, Enterprise Risk Management, and Operations to enhance fraud detection and response capabilities. ? Serve as a liaison with law enforcement and regulatory agencies, preparing case files and participating in hearings or depositions as necessary. ? Analyze fraud patterns, transactions, and behaviors to identify and mitigate fraud risks. ? Support the design and optimization of fraud monitoring systems, ensuring effective rule and parameter configuration for bank and FinTech activities. ? Ensure investigations are conducted in compliance with FinCEN and other relevant regulatory requirements, applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. ? Prepare detailed investigative reports and fraud loss analyses for senior management, the board, and external auditors/examiners. ? Monitor and document corrective actions and policy enhancements resulting from fraud incidents. ? Develop and deliver fraud awareness training for internal teams and FinTech partners. ? Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies, policies, and controls to reduce exposure to fraud. ? Conduct fraud and ID Theft Red Flags risk assessments and recommend enhancements to fraud detection systems and tools. ? Work with frontline personnel fraud and ID Theft Red Flags processes and internal controls are aligned with fraud program and Identity Theft Program guidelines. ? Collaborate with customer service, compliance, and legal teams to address fraud-related concerns effectively. ? Monitor regulatory changes and adapt fraud investigation processes accordingly. ? Report fraud metrics and trends to senior management and relevant committees. ? Qualifications:
Education:
? Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
? Certifications such as CFE, CAFP, or equivalent are preferred.
Required Knowledge/Skills:
? 5+ years of experience in fraud investigation, financial crimes, preferably within the banking, financial services sector, and/or FinTech industries.
? Strong knowledge of fraud detection tools, investigative techniques, and regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, KYC).
? Previous experience with Sponsor Banking Programs or FinTech partnerships is highly desirable.
? Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
? Proficiency in data analysis tools and fraud detection software.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
? Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and compliance frameworks.
? Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
