We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized part-time bookkeeper to manage our financial records, ensure accuracy in our accounting systems, and help maintain smooth financial operations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background who is looking for flexible work hours and has prior law firm experience.
Job Summary: As a part-time bookkeeper you will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with financial reporting. Your duties will include overseeing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, handling payroll, and preparing financial reports as needed by the firm.
Key Responsibilities: ? Maintain accurate financial records for the law firm, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly. ? Process and track accounts payable and receivable. ? Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular basis. ? Prepare and process payroll for firm staff. ? Manage billing and invoicing for clients, ensuring timely payments. ? Track and report on expenses related to specific legal cases. ? Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting. ? Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including sales tax and other financial requirements. ? Assist with preparation for tax filing and liaise with external accountants when necessary. ? Respond to internal inquiries related to finances and accounting matters. ? Support the firm?s financial management through general accounting duties as requested.
Qualifications: ? Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, preferably in a law firm. ? Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping software (QuickBooks). ? Familiarity with law firm billing practices, including timekeeping and trust accounting, is a plus. ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). ? Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. ? Strong attention to detail and accuracy. ? Excellent organizational and communication skills. ? High level of integrity and confidentiality in managing sensitive financial information. ? Associate?s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
