The Financial Shared Services Director at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Finance Service Center of Excellence (SCE), which serves approximately 2,000 staff members across the Division of Finance and Operations and the Division of Institutional Integrity and Risk Management. This position is responsible for managing a team of 18 professional accountants and finance staff, ensuring that they provide high-quality financial services to all SCE customers. The director will lead five teams, including an accounting management team, a purchasing team, and three customer service teams, all engaged in critical accounting and fiscal work. The primary responsibilities of these teams encompass accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, and contract management services. The director will ensure that these functions are executed efficiently, including customer billing and collection, payment processing, employee reimbursements, and inventory accounting processes. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Financial Shared Services Director will be a key member of the SCE Finance Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and goal setting for the organization. This role requires a commitment to service excellence, teamwork, and a high-performance culture, promoting innovation and continuous improvement within the teams. The director will utilize data analysis and customer feedback to guide service packages and ensure that the financial services provided meet the needs of the university community. The position may also offer a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a partially remote work location, in line with university policies.
Responsibilities
? Supervise five teams of professional accountants and finance staff totaling 18 employees.

? Ensure service excellence in accounting and fiscal work, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.

? Manage customer billing and collection processes, both automated and manual.

? Oversee payment processing, including vouchers, employee reimbursements, and purchase orders.

? Lead departmental billing subsystem enhancements and inventory accounting processes.

? Promote teamwork and collaboration among finance staff to achieve a high-performance culture.

? Provide strategic financial oversight and guidance while adhering to processing deadlines and policies.

Requirements
? Master's degree with 2+ years of supervisory experience and 7+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of supervisory experience and 7+ years of relevant experience.

? Progressive experience supervising accounting functions.

? Intermediate level Excel skills.

? Experience with ERP financial systems.

? Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
