About the role:
Samsara is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Cost Analyst responsible for hardware spend budget management. In this role, you will partner with Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, and Finance to forecast, track, and report non-material spend across the hardware product lifecycle from development and sustainment through end of life. The Supply Chain Cost Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to forecast spend across various non-material spend categories inclusive of capital equipment, tooling, fixtures, certification, and prototypes. Ideal candidates should be curious learners with experience in cost analytics and forecasting, be able to drive new processes and tools, and be comfortable translating large amounts of data into actionable insights.
This role is open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin metro, California, Chicago metro, Connecticut, Dallas metro, Denver metro, Houston metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and Washington DC metro.

In this role, you will:
? Create annual spend forecasts by developing rigorous analyses using historical data and in-depth knowledge of the product requirements and manufacturing process and tune the forecast models as required.
? Develop benchmarks for all hardware spend categories in collaboration with Engineering and Supply Chain to assist Sourcing Managers with negotiations.
? Use technical expertise to efficiently gather new data, automate data processing, and implement tools and best practices for data management.
? Provide access to data through reports and dashboards, implementing business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) for data visualization and analytics.
? Generate and consolidate spend and financial reporting metrics and develop actionable insights.
? Partner with Finance to manage invoicing and billing and leverage data to build and tune budget models.
? Champion, role model, and embed Samsara?s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
? Degree in a relevant analytical field (e.g. Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, etc).
? 5+ years of experience managing hardware /capex / supply chain costs.
? Cost modeling and forecasting expertise.
? Excellent analytical skills with the ability to clearly lay out assumptions, risks, and opportunities in logical models.
? Strong communication skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize information in a digestible format for a wide variety of stakeholders.
? History of collaboration across technical & non-technical teams with strong relationship-building skills.
? Proven strategic business thinker who keeps the desired outcome in mind while driving results.
An ideal candidate also has:
? Prior experience in financial or business planning.
? Proficiency with applied SQL/data querying languages, BI/visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI), R, Python, or other analysis tools.
Samsara?s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara?s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
