About the position

The Property Claims Adjuster position at Grinnell Mutual involves investigating and adjusting property claims for farm and home owners. This role is primarily remote, with travel to claim sites using a company-provided vehicle. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to evaluate and settle claims in accordance with company policies. The role includes comprehensive training tailored to the individual's experience level, ensuring preparedness for fieldwork.

Responsibilities
? Investigates property claims through on-site investigations and interviews with claimants, insured, and witnesses.

? Determines proper policy coverages and equitably settles assigned claims cases according to company policies.

? Sets reserves based on estimated loss for claims.
,
? Plans and executes time schedules to conclude assigned cases promptly and effectively.
,
? Prepares and submits reports of findings and actions taken on each assigned claim.
,
? Documents file with activity, contacts, offers, and demands related to claims.
,
? Assists or prepares files for subrogation, suit, or trial as needed.
,
? Works with law enforcement to verify stolen items and confirm payment/ownership.
,
? Maintains strong relationships with Agents and Mutual Managers, acting as a liaison between customers and Grinnell Mutual.

? Conducts on-site field inspections to determine building values and recommend risk acceptability.
,
? Recommends proper building insurance to value based on inspections.
,
? Works with underwriting to determine insurability and document property conditions.

Requirements
? High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.
,
? Minimum of two years' experience in property adjusting, construction, estimating, or insurance.
,
? Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
,
? Experience with Xactimate or similar computer-based adjusting tool is preferred.
,
? Strong interpersonal, active listening, and customer service skills.
,
? Ability to present information professionally in one-on-one or group settings.
,
? Strong written communication skills with demonstrated grammar and professionalism.
,
? Ability to think logically and make decisions regarding claims using judgment and known facts.
,
? Ability to organize work, determine priorities, and meet deadlines.
