Director of Childrens and Youth Ministry
Posted 2025-03-14About the position
San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church (SRVUMC) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Director of Children's and Youth Ministry. This part-time position is designed for someone who possesses the experience, desire, vision, and competency to develop and direct programs for young children and youth. The overarching goal of the Next Generation Ministry is to foster a strong educational program that builds relationships among ministry chairs, teachers, students, parents (including the PTA), and church leaders. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen the students' commitment to the church and enhance their growth in faith and love for Jesus Christ. The responsibilities of this position encompass a wide range of functions, including providing leadership and faith development to the children's and/or youth ministry members and their families. This includes overseeing weekly Sunday School programming and special events, serving as a trusted source for spiritual guidance (such as Bible study, prayer, and worship), and offering relational support through community service and evangelism. The Director will also be responsible for organizational and administrative leadership, ensuring that the ministry runs smoothly and effectively. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Director will seek to recruit, train, and supervise teachers, leaders, and volunteers to assist in the Sunday School classroom and related events. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a strategy for outreach, recruiting, and assimilating new children, youth, and families into the church community. The Director will need to become well-versed in the church's purpose, mission, and ministry vision, and will be expected to encourage and coordinate outreach opportunities, seasonal programs (such as Vacation Bible School), and fellowship activities for children, youth, and their families. The ability to inspire children, youth, and team members of all ages is essential, as is providing pastoral care to families, children, and youth. A vital relationship with Jesus Christ is a fundamental requirement for this position.
