As a P&C Policy & Performance Underwriter Lead at USAA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the underwriting policies and processes for personal lines Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, develop, implement, and manage these policies to align with the enterprise's strategic priorities. This position requires a deep understanding of P&C underwriting, as you will partner with various internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with state regulations while maintaining effective underwriting practices. You will lead complex projects, guiding others in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines and strategies across all P&C lines of business. In this role, you will independently gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate and recommend changes to the underwriting appetite for product acceptability. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering educational programs and training to both internal and external audiences, including senior executives and the Board. Your ability to communicate effectively and tailor messages for different audiences will be crucial as you share insights and information across the organization. Additionally, you will lead the development of large-scale solutions and implement systematic underwriting changes while adhering to regulatory standards. Your expertise in data-driven problem-solving will be essential as you leverage various data analysis tools to interpret business results and translate findings into actionable insights. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the continental U.S., with occasional business travel required.
Responsibilities
? Lead and provide guidance on the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, controls, and strategies for all P&C Lines of Business.

? Manage complex bodies of work that deliver on strategic underwriting priorities by gathering qualitative and quantitative analytical data.

? Develop and deliver underwriting educational programs/tools, training, and communications to internal and external audiences.

? Mentor and share industry knowledge and experience with other employees.

? Conduct root cause analysis to evaluate and recommend changes to underwriting processes.

? Serve as a delegate for leadership and communicate information across P&C and the Enterprise.

? Lead the development of large-scale solutions or complex changes to underwriting policies, programs, products, systems, and processes.

? Evaluate and pilot new strategic and innovative business solutions to optimize underwriting processes.

? Independently configure, test, and implement systematic underwriting changes while adhering to rule documentation standards.

? Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
Requirements
? Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
,
? 8 years of experience in Property & Casualty, Project Management, Process Engineering, Business Process or Risk Management, including direct experience executing underwriting processes.

? Advanced knowledge of relevant industry practices, insurance policy contracts, trends, and regulatory requirements.
,
? Experience in leading efforts to interpret and apply P&C regulations to mitigate underwriting compliance risk.
,
? Experience in making data-driven decisions to create actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
,
? Experience in presenting analysis and findings to varying levels of management and key stakeholders.
,
? Experience researching, developing, writing, and editing operational procedures and documents.
,
? Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access.
Nice-to-haves
? 6+ years of direct P&C Underwriting Homeowners experience.

? 4+ years of experience in developing and presenting analysis/findings to influence management and business strategy.

? Experience working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or third-party data.

? Experience working with third-party vendors.

? Master's Degree and/or CPCU designation.

? Proven ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
