The Staff Accountant II Fixed Assets is a critical role within US Foods, responsible for the accurate recording and management of fixed assets. This position entails recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing assets, including transfers, and accounting for depreciation and disposition of fixed assets. The role requires delivering timely and accurate finance and accounting services in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while ensuring adherence to proper SOX controls. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with various corporate office functions and divisional accounting, analysis, and tax activities. Additionally, the position involves performing the compilation, posting, and review of assigned month-end journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations. As a fully remote position, the Staff Accountant II Fixed Assets will work from anywhere in the U.S., except Hawaii or U.S. territories. The role demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The accountant will review capital requests and supporting documentation to ensure proper accounting treatment in alignment with the company's Property, Plant, and Equipment (PPE) policy. They will also monitor Construction in Process (CIP) and work closely with field personnel to ensure timely in-service dates for assets. The Staff Accountant will create assets with accurate allocations and classifications, review system-generated depreciation reports for reasonableness, and resolve discrepancies. Month-end journal entries and general ledger account analysis are essential tasks, along with reconciling the balance in the fixed asset and CIP subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. The role also includes responding to moderately complex inquiries, conducting periodic fixed asset reviews, and providing audit support as needed. The accountant will assist with various projects and provide functional advice and training to less-experienced staff accountants, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
? Review capital requests and supporting documentation for proper US GAAP accounting treatment that aligns with the Company's PPE Policy

? Review GL account and project coding on capital expense invoices prior to management approval
,
? Monitor and review Construction in Process (CIP) and work closely with field personnel to ensure timely in-service dates
,
? Create assets using accurate allocations and asset classifications and proper useful lives
,
? Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for recording fixed assets
,
? Review system generated depreciation form PeopleSoft Asset Management for reasonableness and resolve any discrepancies
,
? Prepare month-end journal entries and complete general ledger account analysis
,
? Complete accounting reconciliation activities including reconciling the balance in the fixed asset and Construction in Process subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
,
? Respond to moderately complex questions within existing policies and procedures exercising some independent judgment
,
? Conduct periodic fixed asset reviews and impairment inquiries for capital assets
,
? Compile and provide audit support as requested by internal and external auditors
,
? Assist with projects, research, and system related tasks as assigned
,
? Provide functional advice and training to less-experienced Staff Accountants
,
? Other duties as assigned by manager
Requirements
? Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant area

? Intermediate skills using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

? Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
