Hawkeye Community College is seeking a passionate and professional individual to fill the role of Faculty and Chair of the Dental Hygiene Program. This full-time, twelve-month faculty position is set to begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the Hygiene program while also overseeing the strategic and operational administration of the program. This role requires an enthusiastic educator and knowledgeable dental practitioner with experience in hygiene to inspire students and lead a strong faculty team. The demand for trained professionals in the dental hygiene field is high, making this an exciting opportunity to join an outstanding program. In this position, you will engage in creative programmatic development that fosters innovative pedagogies and technologies, utilizing various instructional delivery methods. You will provide leadership for student engagement and success, faculty development, and academic program accreditation. Additionally, you will be responsible for acquiring external funding and fostering community engagement and partnerships. Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats, ensuring a diverse educational experience for students. The college offers a two-year faculty induction and mentoring program to support new faculty members. As the Chair of Dental Programs, you will support Hawkeye Community College's mission to empower students, strengthen businesses, and enrich communities. You will maintain a teaching load of no more than two program courses per semester, assist faculty with developing instructional plans, and employ various instructional modalities to meet educational objectives. You will also be tasked with developing and implementing systematic plans for program evaluation, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and maintaining positive relationships with faculty, students, and community stakeholders.
Responsibilities
? Maintain a teaching load of not more than two program courses per semester along with release time to achieve credit load.

? Support, recruit, and advise students.
,
? Assist faculty with developing instructional plans and materials.
,
? Employ various instructional modalities, methods, and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
,
? Work with the faculty team to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses.
,
? Implement a systematic plan to assure successful program demonstration in areas such as performance on the licensure exam and job placement rates.

? Develop and implement a systematic plan for evaluation of the dental program, including student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
,
? Assist with faculty recruitment, orientation, evaluation, and retention.
,
? Review and manage dental program resources and assist the Health Sciences dean with the budget.
,
? Observe faculty teaching in conjunction with meeting accreditation standards.
,
? Schedule and assign courses to appropriate faculty members for final review by the dean.
,
? Coordinate outreach and admission of new students, monitoring instructional needs and satisfactory academic progress.

? Direct the assessment, revision, and development of curricula while enhancing the integration of simulation and test prep systems throughout the program.

? Ensure compliance with dental education accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies requirements.

? Develop and maintain positive relationships with faculty, students, and community stakeholders.

? Facilitate Dental faculty meetings and the Dental Program Advisory Committee.

? Participate in campus committees as assigned.
Requirements
? Master's Degree in a relevant field.
,
? Two (2) years' experience as a post-secondary dental educator.
,
? Two (2) years' experience of full-time clinical practice proficiency.
,
? Licensed Dental Hygienist or a dentist who is a graduate of a CODA accredited program.
,
? Knowledge and skills in operations and management of an educational program, including accreditation and budgetary responsibilities.

? Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and student learning assessment.

? Experience in using technology and alternative delivery formats, including computer-assisted delivery.

? Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical skills and ideas.
,
? Demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process from diverse backgrounds.

? Knowledge of certification requirements and standards for healthcare facilities.

? Demonstrated track record of collaboration and transformational leadership skills.

? Proven interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Nice-to-haves
? Community college experience as an instructor or faculty lead.

? Three (3) or more years as a dental educator.

? Experience with and/or knowledge of CODA accreditation.

? Experience in reviewing and/or analyzing accreditation reports and data.
