We are on the lookout for an experienced and results-oriented Controller based in Chicago, IL, who is passionate about making a significant impact in the nonprofit sector. Key Responsibilities
? Act as the outsourced Controller/CFO for various nonprofit clients.
? Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports to facilitate management and board decision-making.
? Recommend and drive improvements in accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance practices.
? Manage essential accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
? Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data visualization to inform strategic planning.
? Supervise grant management, allocations, and reporting to funders.
? Prepare for and manage the annual audit process effectively.
? Provide training and guidance to client staff on financial best practices.
Required Skills
? Deep commitment to working with nonprofit organizations.
? Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
? Familiarity with multiple general ledger (GL) software, particularly QuickBooks, and electronic bill payment systems.
? Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
? 5-7+ years of relevant accounting experience.
? Experience in a remote or hybrid work environment is beneficial.
? Prior experience in nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or consulting is advantageous but not mandatory.
? CPA certification is a plus.

Compensation And Benefits
? Competitive salary: (90,000 - )120,000 per year (based on a 35-hour workweek).
