About this Career Opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and member-focused Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and making decisions on mortgage loan applications. The Mortgage Underwriter performs detailed reviews of... financial documents, analyzes credit history, assesses the value of the property, and determines the overall ability of the borrower to repay the loan. The Mortgage Underwriter will ensure loans are made in accordance with established policies and procedures for residential first mortgage and equity loan products while ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations and Investor guidelines while also protecting the financial interests of the Credit Union.

The Mortgage Underwriter role is remote. The incumbent can work remotely from Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Texas, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina.
Position Requirements
? Associates Degree or equivalent work experience.
? Minimum three to five years of mortgage loan underwriting experience. Equity loan underwriting experience a plus.
? Thorough understanding of mortgage loan products, processes, secondary market guidelines and regulations (conventional first mortgages, equity loans and lines of credit, FHA, USDA, FHLB, etc).
? Proficiency with mortgage origination/processing systems; Loan Product Advisor or equivalent underwriting software (AUS) and Microsoft Office products. Experience with FICS Loan Producer and Meridian Link LoansPQ is a plus.
? Position requires the ability to function independently while exercising sound judgment of lending policies and procedures.
? Ability to manage multiple pipelines simultaneously and respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
? Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
? Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
? Ability to function in a financial institution and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Mathematical skills involving decimals, percentages and fractions etc. required.
? This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. Must be able to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator
