Planet Technology has partnered with a Boston area company to locate a Sr. Software Development Manager with experience in working with embedded development to lead a talented team in creating innovative, high-quality software applications for medical devices. In this leadership role, you’ll guide and mentor a team of managers, software developers, and software quality assurance professionals while driving cutting-edge solutions that improve patient outcomes. What You’ll Do: • Set the strategic direction for software development and testing, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall vision. • Collaborate with product teams to plan and execute new features, products, and service offerings. • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing software engineering team across multiple locations. • Foster a positive and engaging team culture that promotes innovation and collaboration. • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle—from design and development to testing, deployment, and security. • Develop strong relationships with customers to drive customer-centric solutions and influence future initiatives. • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive engagement and success at the site level. • Effectively communicate across all levels of the company, bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. • Stay up to date with industry trends, AI advancements, and emerging tools in medical device software engineering. • Ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements (including FDA guidelines for medical software). • Champion cybersecurity and privacy policies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations. • Manage team budgets, resources, and headcount to optimize performance and efficiency. • Promote diversity, inclusion, and professional growth within the organization. What You’ll Bring: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. • 10+ years of experience developing complex software for medical devices. • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams in software development and testing. • Strong background in agile methodologies (such as Scrum) and software lifecycle management. • Experience in cybersecurity, privacy policies, and software test automation. • Working knowledge of tools like Jama, Jira, and familiarity with IEC 62304 standards. • Experience in CUDA, OPENCL, Graphics card programming, and CT Imaging is a plus. • A proven track record of launching and maintaining medical device software. • Passion for Electrophysiology, clinical workflows, and enhancing user experience. • Ability to lead multi-site teams and collaborate across different locations. • Interested candidates can apply by clicking on the link above or by sending a resume to Samantha Clements ([email protected]).
