Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Graduate Career Advisor (Student Services Professional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision of the Director of Business Career Services, the Graduate Career Advisor develops and delivers a comprehensive set of professional career management services for graduate business students (students), building upon the current services provided by Business Career Services. Provides career advising to students including advising, as needed, to the undergraduate business population. Responsibilities include preparing graduate business students to obtain meaningful internship and full-time job opportunities in their chosen field through scheduled advising appointments, and 'drop-in' services. Requires knowledge and ability to research, develop, and present workshops on topics including career assessment, resume development, employment search strategies, interviewing strategies, negotiation, and other career related strategies. Participates in activities to support data collection, program assessment, and database management. Facilitates the development of strong connections between students, student organizations, business industries, and HR partners. Develops marketing activities to promote career development programs, job opportunities, activities, and results through social media channels, websites and other methods to the students, departments, centers, and external community and its key stakeholders. Develops, improves, and maintains relationships with department chairs, faculty, Centers, Advancement, and other university partners. Coordinates and participates in activities to help Business Career Services support key stakeholders, assess career programs, and communicate activities and results to the campus community. In collaboration with the Director and Employer Relations Associate, the Graduate Career Advisor provides employer and community outreach to facilitate corporate recruiter and employer receptions, on campus recruiting, employer information sessions, industry guest speakers, networking events, and large recruitment events. Other responsibilities include communication with students and employers through social media and electronic tools, collaboration with student clubs, faculty and administration, strategic planning and implementation, as well as develop and maintaining an extensive knowledge and expertise with various career advising software programs. While focused on supporting graduate students, the incumbent in this position will provide career workshops, resources, and advising to undergraduates as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years of professional student services work in the field. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for three years of the required professional experience.

Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited four-year university in management, education, human resources, counseling, or related area preferred. At least one year of experience supporting an MBA or graduate student population and one year of prior experience in a business industry are preferred. Knowledge of the Southern California employment market for business graduates.
