JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, in-residence, academic year (36 weeks), non-tenure track Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor position (rank determined based on background and qualifications) in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering for the 2024-25 academic year. This is a term appointment funded for three years, with an excellent possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses. Topics of these courses may include reservoir engineering, production engineering, well testing, well logging, secondary recovery methods, rock and fluid lab, drilling lab, production engineering lab, and other teaching labs in the department. Additional responsibilities may include recruiting and training laboratory teaching assistants and lecture learning assistants to be effective members of an instructional team, creating/implementing inquiry-based class exercises, and assisting with curriculum design and assessment.

Requirements and Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering or related majors by appointment start date with teaching experience in petroleum engineering courses and laboratories. Industry experience and evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching is a plus.
